This section presents Austrian institutions in the field of HTA aswell as links to their HTA publications.

Department for Evidence-based Medicine and Clinical Epidemiology of Danube University Krems

Founded early in 2008, the Department for Evidence-based Medicine and Clinical Epidemiology is cofinanced by the Lower Austria Health and Social Capital, through an endowed Chair. The objective of the Department is to support decision-making in the Austrian health care system by means of evidence-based methods such as meta-analysis and systematic reviews. An evidence-based information centre for doctors in Lower Austria will be one of its central services.

Gesundheit Österreich GmbH (GÖG)

Gesundheit Österreich GmbH (GÖG) is a national research and planning institute for health care and a competence and funding centre of health promotion. The program Health Technology Assessment / Evidence based Public Health supports evidence-based decision-making in the health care system by means of HTA reports and Quick Assessments.

Main Association of Austrian Social Security Institutions – Evidence-based Economic Health Care

The Department of Evidence-based Economic Health Care in the Main Association of Austrian Social Security Institutions aims at contributing to the best possible quality of health care provision in Austria’s health care system. It provides information on themes that are relevant for Austrian social insurance institutions, based on the methods of HTA and EBM. The website gives information on handling of enquiries, current themes under preparation as well as outcomes (in german).

UMIT Institute of Public Health, Medical Decision Making and Health Technology Assessment

The Institute of Public Health, Medical Decision Making and Health Technology Assessment is part of the private Health and Life Sciences University (UMIT) at Hall, Tyrol. The objective of its research programme is the development and application of interdisciplinary methods to guide the comprehensive, systematic and practice-oriented assessment of measures and procedures in public health and medicine. Its methodological focuses include HTA and cost-efficiency analyses.

The Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Health Technology Assessment (LBI-HTA) understands itself as an independent institute offering scientific support for decision-making in the health care sector. The Institute provides the scientific basis for decision-making, draws up HTA reports, quick assessments and economic analyses.
